Rewarding Bad Habits Pack On The Pounds

I've been listening to lots of podcasts recently to get inspired in blogging. I enjoy listening to people who have used a skill they didn't realize they had to become successful. These are people who are actually making a living by doing what they love doing every day.

In order to be successful, I've learned that you need to have habits! Daily habits and repetition are the key to any success, including fat loss.

Think about the habits you have right now and the reward you get from them. Do you eat something because it gives you energy to get up and out the door or simply because you crave the instant sugar rush. Obviously, if we crave the sugar rush that's an unhealthy habit that can easily be replaced by a healthy one. Try having a piece of toast with almond butter as opposed to sugar-filled cereals. The natural sugars and healthy fats in almond butter will keep you more satisfied than the cereal, especially in the long run.

By identifying the reward we get from what we're eating (easy accessibility or comfort) we can realize that we can break bad habits that go along with the notion that grabbing a bagel is easier than making a smoothie to get out the door quicker. By understanding what's necessary to satisfy and fill you up in a short amount of time, you can make healthy options all the time.

By using a meal plan that fits best for YOU (taste buds, lifestyle, time, money, etc.), make it a habit to write down that you are eating exactly what you are supposed to eat every day. If you have a smart phone, use the MyFitnessPal app. It might be hard for the first few weeks, but will soon become something you are used to doing and a new part of your life! The feeling of accomplishment after this habit starts showing results is so rewarding and something you'll want to continue.
