How To Stay Positive Through It All

I can tell you right now, there will be times that you want to give up. The want seems to fade farther and farther away and being lazy with a bag of chips is ALWAYS more appealing. Here are some tips to staying positive and on track:

1. Take before, during and after photos:

One of the most rewarding things is seeing where you began and how far you have come. How many photos of yourself have you looked at with disgust or disappointment? Keep those as motivation! Once you start to notice a difference in just a few weeks, take another photo in the same spot and position to compare. The results will be more motivating than any number on the scale.

2. Use the scale only once a week:

It is SO demotivating to step on the scale every day to see the smallest results. You aren't going to lose 10 pounds in one day and if you don't see drastic results you lose all your motivation. Use the scale once a week on the same day and write down your results. You'll be amazed at the changes.

3. Reward yourself:

Create specific and concrete goals. Write down "I will lose 10 pounds by this date" and once you've achieved that goal, reward yourself with something you've wanted for a while! With all the money you save from eating out, you'll have enough saved for whatever it may be. Make sure these goals are attainable or you may never reach them and lose hope. Also, save the 'buying clothes reward' for when you get to your Ultimate Goal Weight (UGW). Just think about that feeling when you can wear a size you couldn't even imagine wearing weeks ago.
